How To Tap
Posted under Uncategorized by Paul
1) Think about the situation you wish to tap. Rate the intensity you feel on a scale of 0-10. A 0 would indicate that you feel no intensity at all whilst a 10 would mean the intensity is nearly overwhelming.
2) While tapping on the Karate Chop point say the following statement out loud three times. Being sure to state your physical or emotional pain as specifically as possible (the more specific you are the better the speed and the quality of the result). In EFT we call this statement the set-up phrase.
Even though I feel this ______________, I deeply and completely accept myself.
3) Tap on each of the acupuncture points approximately 5-7 times each. As you tap each point state the pain that you filled in the blank with above. So, for example, if your pain was an ache in your knee you would say, “This ache in my knee” at every single point as you tap it.
- Eyebrow
- Side of eye
- Under eye
- Under nose
- Chin
- Collarbone
- Under arm
4) Now inhale as deeply as you can through your nose to the point where you feel your stomach expand. Hold for about 3 seconds, and then exhale through your mouth.
5) Now rate the intensity you feel on a scale of 0 to 10. If it is above a 2 repeat the steps above with the following modifications:
Change the setup statement to say
Even though I still have some of this ______________, I deeply and completely accept myself.
Change the reminder phrase (the phrase you use whilst tapping the acupressure points)
To say

Please keep in mind that this is only the basic standard routine. There is a good chance that this will be all that you need to get results. If not there are many more sophisticated techniques that can help. So, if you get stuck read my article, “The Three Top Reasons why EFT can Appear to Fail”. If this doesn’t help write to me and I would be glad to suggest alternatives.
