Dear Paul,

Once I feel better about my situation should I continue tapping on it. If so, for how long?

Look forward to your reply,

David

Hello David,

Thanks for asking this question. There is no general answer to this question. It all really depends on exactly what the issue is that you tapped for. I would take the following things into consideration:

Did you tap on something that is out of your control that happens on a regular basis? Let’s say for example that you live with a family member that constantly puts you down. Each time they say something cruel it hurts. In a situation such as this it is important to tap each time you feel that their words have negatively affected you in any manner. This can help you keep a positive outlook during and after the barrage.

Did you remember to tap in a good concluding statement when you felt that the problem was gone? In my experience the best way to do this is to tap in a thankfulness statement. Let’s say that you tapped away an anger issue that you have had for a long time. Your thankfulness statement could be something like this:

I am so thankful that this anger that has plagued me for so long is now forever gone.

If this statement should cause any doubts to come up. Tap all the doubts down to zero. You may be able to do this in one sitting or it might take a few times. You will know when to stop when you are comfortable with the thankfulness statement.

Have you tried not tapping on it for a day? The only way to be 100% sure that you are done with tapping on a situation is trial. If you can go through an experience or emotion that used to really affect you feeling anywhere from neutral to good, it is time to stop tapping. On the other hand. if you note even a small symptom that warns you that you might be negatively affected, continue to tap on the issue as well as the symptom. Do this pattern three times and if you start to feel that the progress has stopped consider getting the assistance of an EFT practitioner.

Kindest of Regards,

Paul Thurman
